Glucose and Starch Overview

Capitalizing on its experience in processing maize and as a reputable ISO 9002 company, it was a natural progression for ARASCO to expand into the food industry and therefore complete the food cycle by establishing the state-of-the-art Starch and Glucose plant next to ARASCO’s feed complex in Al-Kharj.  The plant started commercial production in 2003 and was expanded further in 2005 to grind 250/260 mt/corn per day and 280/290 mt/corn per day in 2006. Our Starch and Glucose plant is ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP certified.

This plant now supplies Starch and Glucose mainly to KSA but also to GCC and other countries in the Middle East as well as Africa. The starch is used in the food industry and also industrial grade starch is supplied to paper, corrugating and gypsum industries. Various grades of glucose syrup are manufactured to cater for confectionery, baking and beverage industries as well as industrial grade as ingredient for building materials.
The plant also produces co-products which are used in the company’s adjacent feed mill as high quality feed ingredients.

NOW YOU CAN GET STARCH POWDER AND GLUCOSE SYRUP LOCALLY AND FROM CERTIFIED NON GMO CORN FOR INCLUSION IN FOOD.

There are future plans to increase the range of products which would require further expansion of the plant.

Technology

ARASCO Starch and Glucose Plant uses a modern and highly automated version of the corn wet milling technology. The plant consists of two major parts. In the first part, starch, that constitutes about 70% of corn, is extracted and purified from corn germs, fibers, and gluten (corn protein) and finally dried. In the second part, 50% of extracted starch slurry is converted into various kinds of glucose syrups using advanced and flexible acid and acid-enzyme hydrolysis technologies.
The plant contains a modern quality control laboratory equipped with advanced chemical and biological analysis instruments to ensure compliance with Saudi Standards Organization (SASO) and standards set by the A.C.R.A. (American Corn Refiners Association) and customer requirements.
